Silver Star is the prevention and intervention component of the Monterey County Joint Gang Task force run by the Monterey County Probation Department.
The Silver Star Resource Center is a collaboration with community agencies that offers a “one-stop shop” for youths between the ages of 6-21 who are experiencing difficulties in the areas of gang involvement, substance abuse, truancy, employment, mental health or family conflict. The goal of the program is to increase opportunities for academic achievement, attain employment skills, promote overall health and welfare and decrease gang involvement. The Silver Star Resource Center is located at the Old Natividad Hospital, 1330 Natividad Road in Salinas, CA.
The community partners include the Monterey County Probation Department, the District Attorney’s Office, Children’s Behavioral Health, Monterey County Office of Education, Community Human Services, Second Chance Youth Counseling, Partners for Peace, and the Office of Employment Training. Sunrise House also provides afternoon programs, such as Youth Alternatives to Violence and Drug Diversion.
To refer a youth and their family to the Silver Star Resource Center, simply download the referral form linked below, complete the form, and forward it to the staff of the program. You may also call the program at (831) 796-1641. Upon receipt of the referral, the Silver Star Resource Center staff will contact the youth and their family with program information and, if necessary, schedule an appointment for a family needs assessment, depending on the needs of the minor referred.
